Meet the Midland Ministries Full-Time Staff.
God has truly blessed us with a wonderful Staff of men and women, all willing and able to serve our Lord full-time as a career. What this means for Midland Ministries is that all our Staff raise their own personal support (their salary, as well as ministry expenses).
Below each Staff picture and bio, you will find a support link. If God is calling you to support one of our Staff or one of our many General Ministry Funds financially, please click the link to donate. Remember, your gift goes to reaching America’s teens and their families.

Director of Child Rescue
Shane Sanderson founded and directed Southside Youth Outreach in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1993. The ministry of SYO was to reach kids with the Good News of Jesus Christ. SYO fulfilled that vision and continued. The vision of Child Rescue continues to carry on that same heart for ministry with the additional mission of caring for the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of children in a more stable, long-term environment. Shane grew up in Oak Grove, Missouri where his Dad served as Pastor of the Oak Grove Bible Church. Shane later got involved with Kansas City Youth For Christ where he learned much of the ministry approaches that would shape his life and ministry for good. After founding and directing Southside Youth Outreach, in 2010 Shane felt the call to go to a Third World country to reach kids not only with the Good News of Jesus Christ but also to provide a home and refuge for the fatherless. Shane founded Child Rescue of Central America as an offshoot ministry of Midland Ministries in St. Joseph. God led him to the city of Santa Cruz del Quiché in Guatemala where he found a home that became the ministry of Casa de Mi Padre.
Stan & Denise Nelson
Casa de Mi Padre Staff
Stan was born and raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. God brought him to Kansas City to attend Christ Unlimited Bible Institute and join the Staff of Kansas City Youth For Christ. Stan met his future wife Denise who was born in Paola, Kansas and through Denise's Uncle George, met the Sanderson Family, including Shane. Stan and Denise were married in 1986 and have spent much of their married lives serving the Lord in various capacities. In June of 2014, Stan led a small team from his church in LaCygne, Kansas for a week long mission trip to Casa de Mi Padre to be a blessing to Shane and the ministry of Casa de Mi Padre. He had no idea God was going to use that trip to speak to Stan and begin to burden his heart for the ministry and kids of Casa de Mi Padre and Shane Sanderson. Stan and Denise spent a year seeking God and in June of 2015 answered the call to move to Guatemala along with their youngest son Nick to work full-time along with Shane. Stan and Denise will be working with the older girls as they turn 18 and enter the transitional ministry. Stan is also, under the supervision of Shane, overseeing the construction of the new Casa de Mi Padre.
Casa de Mi Padre Staff
Cole McCauley is from St. Joseph, Missouri. Christ revealed himself to Cole while he was in college. He was saved from a life of addiction to drugs, drinking, sex, and whatever else gave him a feeling. After being born again, Cole was taught what it means to follow Christ through Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) at NWMSU. There Cole came to know the truth and love of Christ personally. After time and time again of obedience to God's Word and seeing the promises of the Bible come true, Cole knew He was being called to proclaim this truth to ALL people. While finishing college God grew a passion in Cole for evangelism and discipleship. Cole pursued Collegiate Ministry for a year then God lead him in a different direction. While working with people who have disabilities God taught Cole what it meant to unconditionally love and care for people who can't do so for themselves. Here God also taught Cole how to lead a household and a team of people to care and provide for the needs of others. Cole took His first mission trip to Casa de mi Padre in the summer of 2014. There Cole fell in love with every aspect of the ministry. He saw an opportunity for much ministry in Quiche and had experienced the beginnings of many great relationships with the kids. God had given him a clear calling, so he faithfully followed. Then in the spring of 2015 Cole took a 3-month discernment trip to Casa de mi Padre where God confirmed his calling. He has been with Midland Ministries and Child Rescue for one year now. Cole is starting a transitional home for the boys who turn 18 and need guidance as they grow and move to live on their own. Cole cares for the kids, helps with whatever Shane needs, and helps lead the home when Shane is gone. Cole has a deep desire to raise faithful and educated disciples of Christ. Cole desires that one day not only the City of Quiche but the Country of Guatemala will be reached by the disciples God is raising at Casa de mi Padre.
Casa de Mi Padre Staff
Shelby Henderson grew up around ministry practically her whole life. Her dad, Jon Henderson, is the Executive Director at Midland Ministries in St. Joseph, Missouri. She first visited Guatemala in 2013 and instantly fell in love with the ministry of Casa de Mi Padre. She has visited two more times since then, and every time she has gone, she continued to love it more and more. Several months before her first trip she felt God speak to her and that He wanted her to work in ministry full time, but He didn't tell her where and she was not sure where at first. So after years of praying and asking God where He wanted her, God finally showed her that He is asking her to go to Guatemala and serve with the ministry of Casa de Mi Padre. She will be moving to Santa Cruz del Quiche this June. Her ministry in Guatemala will include going around to different towns nearby teaching them how to do Bible Quizzing as well as working with the kids in Quiche who have been quizzing for a while. Also, she will be working in the Christian school, as well as the orphanage. She is looking forward with great anticipation to seeing what God is going to do with this ministry. She is so thankful that God has allowed her to be a part of this amazing ministry.
